Brown Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat (1/4 cup butter)
  2. Whisk in flour and cook 2-3 min, stirring constantly, until golden brown (1/4 cup flour)
  3. Gradually whisk in broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps (3 cups broth)
  4. Add Worcestershire sauce, onion powder and garlic powder (1 tbsp sauce, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
  5. Bring to a simmer and cook 5-10 min, stirring occasionally until thickened
  6. If available, add 2-3 tbsp ham drippings for extra flavor
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste
